In the wake of the crazy Tannery fiasco, here’s another old factory being converted into something cool:
Located at King and Breithaupt, it’s aptly named, and the plans look sweet… saying that, maybe i’m a little more jaded on redevelopment than I was a year ago – so let’s see how this pans out before we start saying how great it all is.
Too cynical? I don’t know, i can’t tell anymore.
What do you think of the plans?

You know, I feel as though if the K-Dubs is putting this financial effort into making the city look/be/feel young and hip, this could do great things for the arts in the area. Or it could turn it into an aspirational upper class district. Which would be chic, of course. But the thing about trends is that they tend to not last for very long and they have a very shallow impact.
According to the pictures, at least you know you will be able to:
a) have a group of 5 people look at some kind of picture
b) day dream
c) lay on a couch with rad looking headphones and “work”
d) take your smartcar to work (I hear a lot of places ban those, so this is a big plus)
e) ride on the back of a scooter without even having to hold on!
I do hope that the 19 different collaborative workspaces all being planned at the same time can share nicely though…
Love it or hate it, I would rather see a living, breathing building than a decaying shell.
