Ok. Have you seen/heard of this game?
Robot Unicorn Attack Heavy Metal….

You HAVE to go play it. With the sound on. Preferably at work. It’s awesome. hahahaa.
HILARIOUS. Thank You JAU… this game has brought a lot of joy into my empty, meaningless existence.

Also quite funny – maybe funnier at the time, but I still feel compelled to share it… this video from Saturday night:

This was right before we all consumed a tray full of take out Burrito Boyz – yep! I went back for a second attempt at the world’s plainest burrito and it was a total success!
Obviously the secret is to order 7 at a time… then you get the serious customer service, and you pretty much shut down the entire assembly line. My customized rice, cheese, sour cream and steak snack was DELICIOUS. You are redeemed Burrito Boyz!!!!!!!!!!!

Also – i ran into an RQ reader on the weekend who said i should have warned them about the parking situation over there… yeah… it’s not great – there’s not a lot of parking and it’s kind of a clusterfuck… so we usually just part over beside Bhima’s … much less stressful than having to back out onto King st when you leave!

Stop reading this and go eat a BURRITO.

This is my new favourite blog, and it’s not just because I make a guest appearance today!

Em-Oh-Em is written by P’s Sister-in-Law, Emily and it is awesome!

Here she is with “The Bud” aka “C-Mo”… At the moment he calls me Aunt Harvey – which I think is pretty much THE BEST NICKNAME EVER – and supports my claim that as a kid NO ONE could say my name right, and it often came out HELLERY. And then Alana saw this on Nataliedee.com:

And the handle ANGRYCELERY was born. Stop asking.

Alright, now that I have successfully made this blogpost about ME…..

EM-OH-EM is about Recipes, Books and weird things that help Emily manage her entertaining OCD habits.

Plus, she’s funny.

And she posts most weekdays – which feeds MY internet OCD habits.

And she’s getting a camera very soon – so it’s about to get EVEN better.

I highly recommend it. And the onion ring recipe. FUCKING. DELICIOUS.

Post your BEST TEXT EVER.

Notice I did not say BEST SEXT EVER – so keep it clean, people!

Mine was actually from my mom… and was recent: “Hi. It’s your Mother. I’m texting.”

So… I tried the Foursquare app a bunch of months ago and HATED it.

It was slow, no one was on it, it seemed like something that was just another thing to do…

HOWEVER. While at 5-7 at Bauer, the lovely Myles encouraged me to give it another go.

So I did. and holy crap. I totally love it!

Now the only thing to do – get all of my friends using it so we can have a little friendly competition over points and badges and we can share reviews of where we go and what we like.

If you’re a business – i don’t know how you could NOT see the benefits in this app. I mean – it basically shows you who your customers are – and let’s you interact with them directly – as well as run some pretty cool promotion around it.

So.. yeah… get on it. and add me as a friend.

I’ve been meaning to share a couple of my favourite gems from my RSS Reader the past couple days – It feels good to spread the wealth, ya know?

But sadly, i have no time for that today. What i do have time for is 2 of my recent favourites

1. Stuff No One Told Me (but i learned anyways) – amazing little creations with totally true life lessons in them. Like this one:

So true. Thanks for posting  Daejin Media!!! such a great find! and new!

______________

Number 2 on my things of awesome things to share is:

THXTHXTHX which i found through Seth Godin’s blog.

Here’s the description from her ABOUT ME :

Leah Dieterich’s mother always told her to write thank you notes. So she does. To everything.

And she does. And they are so great.

You are so welcome, reader.

Please send me the stuff you like to read.

We chatted with Rob Szabo last week for Episode 13 of The 100.

It was such a good time that this week’s show is 26 minutes!

Sorry :)

Have a listen and let us know what you think!

H

Rob will be performing at the Waterloo Arts Festival in Waterloo Park – check him out at 2pm on Sat and 4pm on Sunday.

Jun 04

Here’s a LINK to listen to the 12th episode of The 100.

I asked people a bunch of questions about the region at last weekend’s Culture Camp – and P cut it into this 7 minute Gem.

Brock drops the Fbomb multiple times in the first 3 minutes, just to show me up.

Like this format better? Less controlled, more random? Let us know.

H.

PS.  Happy weekend, I hear there’s a bunch of musical stuff happening at the concrete slab tomorrow afternoon.

This new site has popped up on the KW radar today – KW NIGHT OUT.

It’s press release and About Us page boasts that it “is the best Kitchener, ON area website that brings you all of your nightly entertaining needs at the click of a mouse.” – but it looks like it stills needs a lot of it’s content generated… so….

That’s all I’ll say about that.

I am in LOVE with the idea of job postings asking for applicants to create a unique way to show how/why they should get a job.

Paper resumes are boring and don’t tell you a goddamn thing about the person applying. It doesn’t even confirm that they can spell or format in Word properly because their Mom probably helped proofread it.

But THIS! It’s the way of the future.

Get on board.

H.

Chris – Nice work and tell Me to We to read this blog post and that they should give you the job because you’re so fucking awesome.  And also, thanks for coming with Mike and Cara for the Long Weekend BBQ, excellent night, even though i had to nap intermittently. Mike – NICE BBQING:

Hey All,

We’re releasing Episode 10 of The 100 early this week, since we’re talking about The Tannery District and there’s some stuff happening tonight.

Have a listen to the podcast by going to HERE or checking it out in iTunes (The 100 Waterloo)

If you’d like to get involved with raising public interest or showing your support for the District – feel free to action one or more of these options:

1. JOIN THE FACEBOOK GROUP…
And ask your friends to do it too.

2. Work your network. Spread the word, join the conversation. Specifically on WEDNESDAY MAY 19 – Let’s make the Tannery a trending topic in Canada!

“Cadan and City of Kitchener, let’s turn the Tannery into a true district for people.”

Hashtag for twitter #TANNERY

3. Come to the City Council Meeting tonight – 7pm – You don’t even have to speak, just putting butts in the seats will show our support of City council making the right choices :)

I know that all this stuff can seem a bit preachy, or like it’s just talking to a wall, but it REALLY doesn’t have to be.

It’s pretty easy for the public to band together and show they disapprove of something – and it gives a loud and clear signal to the people that make the decisions that they are headed in a direction that may not be what the community wants.

I’ll be there tonight.

H.

May 14

Well, The 100 is WAY more interesting when you’re not listening to how annoying the sound of your own voice is!!!

Check out this Episode with Brock and Martin and Emily Robson! They’re talking about cultural planning  - and where Waterloo Region is heading!

There was a contest – but Gavin Fitzpatrick already won the tix – so yeah, you snooze ya lose!

Happy Listening,

H.
