Overview:

Reporting to the VP, Digital Media, the Operations Manager is responsible for the ongoing exceptional operation of the Hub. This includes allocating client space, responding to client needs, and ensuring the facilities’ ongoing maintenance and repair. In addition, the incumbent provides technical support and troubleshooting for a variety of systems and platforms.


Full Description:

  • Plan and execute client moves
  • Maintain inventory of furniture; source and purchase as required (for both clients and staff)
  • Manage allocation of parking spaces to staff and clients of the Hub
  • Primary contact for facility security
  • Provide support for events hosted at the Hub, as required
  • Develop and deliver orientation program for new hires and new client companies
  • Respond to tenant concerns regarding facility (temperature, noise, maintenance of suites, etc).
  • Contract, liaise with and coordinate work of external firms for maintenance (janitorial services, carpet cleaning, window washing, vending machine, etc)
  • Tour visitors through the facility as called upon
  • Manage relationships with technical service providers and development platform partners
  • Trouble-shoot and provide technical support to clients and staff for telephone systems, network equipment, servers, video-conferencing and audio-visual equipment, including equipment in the Hub Theatre
  • Provide back-up when other staff members are on vacation/away from the office
  • Be on call for emergency tenant issues on statutory holidays and after hours (including weekends)
  • Other duties, as required

Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills (oral and written)
  • Attention to detail is important
  • Strong customer service skills are critical
  • Technical aptitude with a variety of systems
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a technical support role

    EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR – FULL TIME TEMPORARY

    WATERLOO COMMUNITY ARTS CENTRE

    This is a full-time temporary position covering maternity leave beginning November 2010, for 12

    months.

    The role of the Executive Director is to provide leadership, management and support to the staff

    and volunteers at the centre to ensure excellent customer service to the public and program

    participants. The role is a great opportunity to work with a volunteer community, providing

    support and mentoring in the execution of their duties.

    ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • To supervise all staff in the day to day operation of the centre.
    • To recruit and manage volunteers.
    • To develop a regular schedule of programs, activities and events for the centre in a
    • business-like way in order to generate net positive program revenue for the centre
    • To maintain financial records and manage cash flow in consultation with the Treasurer
    • To maintain a record of corporate documents which includes but is not limited to minutes,
    • corporate policy, position descriptions, grant applications and contracts in consultation with
    • the Secretary
    • To prepare and update a future-oriented statement of financial position and annual estimate
    • of future income and expenses of the centre
    • To negotiate partnerships and collaborative opportunities with individual artists and other
    • community arts organizations to the mutual benefit of the centre and the community
    • To negotiate service and supplies contracts where required
    • To research and complete applications for funding and sponsorship opportunities to
    • maximize funding and grants available to the centre
    • To work with City of Waterloo staff in the day to day operation of the centre
    • To report to the Board of Directors on a monthly basis.
    • To keep the President of the Board of Directors informed of operational issues at the centre

    QUALIFICATIONS

    The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years work experience in arts programming,

    excellent interpersonal and communication skills to deal effectively with all stakeholders including

    staff, volunteers and the Board of Directors, a strong computer skills and proficiency with

    Microsoft Office as well as flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment.

    A satisfactory Police Records Check is a requirement for this position

    HOW TO APPLY

    Salary range will be from $30,000-$40,000 per annum and is subject to board approval.

    Paper resumes are boring and don’t tell you a goddamn thing about the person applying. It doesn’t even confirm that they can spell or format in Word properly because their Mom probably helped proofread it.

    RQ’s friend Megan is looking for two new hires at Pathways to Education – A program that is based out of Mosaic Counselling and Family Services.


    They focus on youth, and breaking the cycle of poverty. Their goals are to reducing drop out rates and absenteeism, assisting students academically and increasing graduation rates.
