Holy. Busiest 2 days ever. I am sorry readers… I wish I would have posted this yesterday. wah-wah.
Yesterday, I was at the Venture 4 Change (Social Entrepreneurship) event, as you know… and it was FANTASTIC and yes, the all caps ARE definitely necessary.
Capacity Waterloo, and specifically Jennifer King, did a killer job pulling together relevant and engaging speakers, as well as pulling it all off without a single issue. Every speaking slot was accompanied by some sort of group discussion and let this be a lesson to anyone organizing anything – if you don’t engage the people listening, you will lose them.
Personal highlight was connecting with local people whose work I have only admired from afar, it was great to be interacting with them in an environment that was 100% welcoming. And then there were the usual suspects ;)
Beautiful day to be out at Whistle Bear golf club in Cambridge… omg i’m sooo badass.
Jerry Greenfield (co-founder of Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream) was the keynote speaker and was soooooooo interesting. I mean, he’s got a great story to work with – but he really makes you live it, ya know? It’s kind of felt like an Uncle that you’re parents have told you a ton about, but you’d never really met – and then he comes to dinner and he is everything that you imagined he would be.
… and he brought you ice cream.
COME ON. How great is this picture?
Ok, so I’m not going to go on and on and on about it… there’s lots of places you can check out for a lot more details/recaps/photos/tweets:
- Twitter Hashtag Search for V4C10
- Sey Doggy’s Recap
- Ramy’s v4c Photo Gallery
- Renjie’s Recap
- Joseph Fung’s comments on “Celeb CEOs” a topic that came up in the AM.
- if i missed you, add’er in the comments.
I will say, that Ramy (thanks for the photos) made a great point – he hopes that by the year 2020, there will be no need for the term “Social Enterprise” – every business will measure their triple bottom line, and every customer will demand that the companies they engage with care about the social impact of whatever it is that they do.
I think that says it all, yes?
H.
