A great tool for helping people embrace art… is public art:
Call for Expressions of Interest: KPL Main Site.
Artists are invited to submit expressions of interest for a two-stage competition which will place a site-specific work of public art at the reconstructed main library in Kitchener.
Short-listed artists will be compensated for detailed proposals. The selected artist will receive a commission of $125,000. Installation costs are the responsibility of the City of Kitchener.
Deadline to submit: March 31, 2010.

Sorry for the late notice on this one guys –
Calling all performance artists to submit a letter of intent to Lawrence at the Registry Theatre for the upcoming “Animating the Streets” project.
Here’s the details that i know about the project, and what you should be working with:
- should run during may or june
- should be between 1 – 20 minutes in length
- should be interactive or performance based
- should be in a high traffic area (uptown or downtown preferred)
- and should be during a high traffic time (lunch, after work, in conjunction with another event)
Could be located in a business or in public space/street.
There will be a small honorarium awarded to all the selected performance groups, but this should be seen primarily as a marketing opportunity for local artists.
That’s all i know, sorry dudes, sounds cool – get involved!

As most of you know, CAFKA (contemporary art forum Kitchener + area) happens every two years in KW. It’s a wicked art festival that rivals anything else going on worldwide and showcases both local and global artists.
The next CAFKA is in the September 16 to October 2nd, 2011.
The call for artists deadline is MAY 7, 2010.
That is SOON!
